After working for more than 2 years Maja wondered why quite a few of her clients with hearing aids still found it challenging following conversations in competing environments.

Even though she was aware of auditory processing disorders, auditory re-training and neuroplacity, it was not until she came across Norman Doidge’s book „The brain’s way of healing“ where she found the optimal auditory re-training method for her clients.

Why I work with Tomatis®

I started working with Tomatis® because it is such a wholistic approach to the brain’s health regardless of whatever conditions clients have.

Continuous learning is imperative in audiology and I have always looked at everything that science and research had to offer which could be useful for myself and my clients.

I completed the Tomatis® programme myself as someone with congenital deafness and bilateral cochlear implants. The results are remarkable, below are just a few:

  • I am able to pick out most of what my receptionist is saying to the clients whereas before it was a lucky chance while being in my clinic room.
  • It was easier to talk to people on one to one at a noisy show where I worked at a stand.
  • I am swaying a lot less meaning my balance has improved.

This made me wonder how much better I could be hearing if my parents had come across this during my formative years and convinced me that anyone with an actual hearing loss also benefits.
